Settings
Settings is where your account, your workspace, your team and your plan live. It is a page of its own, with one tab for each of them. To leave, pick any other screen in the sidebar.
Good to know
- Each tab has its own web address — for example
…/settings?tab=members— so you can bookmark one or send it to a colleague. - There is no close button. To leave, use the sidebar. On a phone, the back arrow inside a section returns you to the list of sections.
Open Settings
Four ways in, all of them land on the Settings page.
- Sidebar → Settings. Pinned at the very bottom of the sidebar, above your name, with a gear icon. The row stays highlighted while you are in Settings.
- Your avatar, bottom left → Profile & preferences. Opens on Profile.
- Your avatar → Subscription. Opens on Subscription. That row carries a small chip with the name of your current plan.
- On a phone: Menu → Settings.
There is no gear in the top bar. If you are hunting for one, it is in the sidebar.
Sidebar → Settings, pinned at the bottom
Settings replaces the page you were on, like any other screen in the sidebar. Opened from the sidebar, it always starts on Profile.
The seven sections
On a computer the seven sections are tabs in a row along the top, under the Settings title.
| Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Profile | Your name, phone, photo, sign-in email, password and theme |
| Workspace & team | Create and switch workspaces, lead visibility, teams, setup |
| Members | Invite people, approve them, set roles and teams, remove someone |
| Roles | Build the permission sets you assign to members |
| Channel access | Which WhatsApp numbers each member may use |
| Subscription | Your plan, your card, invoicing status, cancelling |
| Branding | Your brand colour, name, subdomain, logos and sign-in splash |
The tabs run along the top. The Add button is in the top bar, on the right
At the right-hand end of the tab row you will also find, depending on the tab, the Seats meter (on Members), the Workspaces meter (on Workspace & team) and a Search roles box (on Roles).
On a phone
On a phone, Settings opens on a list of its sections. Tap one to open it: its name becomes the heading, and the back arrow at the top left — Back to Settings — returns you to the list. The bar at the bottom of the screen stays, so you can go anywhere else from there.

Why a section you were told about is missing
A section you cannot use is hidden, not greyed out. So if a colleague describes a section you have never seen, you are not looking in the wrong place — it is not being shown to you.
| Section | What it takes to see it |
|---|---|
| Profile | Nothing. Everyone has it |
| Workspace & team | Nothing. Inside it, the Teams table needs view access to Members, and Workspace setup needs edit access to Workspace |
| Members | View access to Members |
| Roles | View access to Roles and Permissions |
| Channel access | Two things at once: your plan must include WhatsApp, and you need view access to WhatsApp |
| Subscription | Nothing. Everyone can look; only the subscription payer can change the plan. Not shown in the iPhone and iPad app — use a browser |
| Branding | Branding switched on for your workspace by us, and you are the subscription payer |
Two things worth knowing about that table:
- Being a workspace owner clears permission gates, unless a role you hold says otherwise for that specific permission. So an owner normally sees Members, Roles and Channel access.
- Plan limits are never cleared by being the owner. If your plan does not include WhatsApp, Channel access is missing for everybody, owner included.
Right after Settings opens, the Members, Roles and Channel access tabs can take a moment to appear while your permissions load. That is deliberate — it shows nothing rather than briefly showing something you cannot use.
The Add button
When you can create something, an Add button sits in the top bar while you are in Settings (on a phone, at the top right of the Settings heading). It is a shortcut, so you do not have to find the right section first.
| Item | The caption under it | What it opens |
|---|---|---|
| Member | Invite by email | Members, with the invite form open |
| Member | From another workspace | Members, with the people picker open |
| Team | Group members | Workspace & team, with Create team open |
| Role | Permission set | Roles, with the role editor open |
Both member rows are titled Member — the caption underneath is the only thing that tells them apart. You only see the items you have permission to use, and Invite by email is disabled when every seat on your plan is taken, with its caption changing to Invite by email · seat limit reached.
Links someone sends you
A Settings link opens the Settings page straight on the right tab. Use the sidebar to go anywhere else afterwards.
If something looks wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Settings opened on Profile, not the tab you used last | The sidebar’s Settings always starts on Profile (on a phone, on the list) | Click the tab you want |
| A section a colleague has is not in your list | A permission or a plan limit — the section is hidden, not disabled | Check the table above, then ask a workspace owner for that access |
| A red message at the top of Settings instead of your details | Your profile could not be loaded | Reload the page; if it repeats, message support |
| Failed to load your profile. | Same thing, with no message from the server to show you | Reload the page |
