Track how a campaign performed
Every campaign you send lands on the Campaigns list, and the list updates itself as messages go out. This page covers finding a campaign and reading its numbers. To chase the people it did not reach, see Find out why someone did not get your campaign.
Before you start — you need at least one campaign already sent or scheduled (see Send a WhatsApp campaign), and Campaigns access on the WhatsApp account it was sent from, or workspace ownership.
Steps
Open the list
In the sidebar, under Messaging, click Campaigns.
Status chips and search across the top; Status, Campaign, Outcome, Sent to and Schedule down the table.
There is no refresh button, and you do not need one. The list is live — progress and status arrive on their own and the rows update in place.
Narrow it down
The row of controls above the table filters the list.
- All · In progress · Needs attention · Completed — the status chips. On a narrow screen these collapse into one chip showing the status currently applied; tap it for the same four.
- All types · Bulk · Single — whether a campaign went to a list or to one person.
- The magnifying-glass chip opens a search field. Press / to jump straight into it and Esc to close it.
Search matches the message, not the title. A campaign has no name of its
own, so searching looks inside the message body. The field says as much:
Search message content…. Closing the search also clears it.
Status and search apply to every campaign you have. The Bulk / Single
filter only narrows the page you are looking at — which is why the count line
changes wording while it is on, from 1–20 of 63 to
4 of 20 on this page · 63 total. Pages hold 20 campaigns.
Read the row
Five columns, left to right. As the window narrows, Schedule drops out first, then Sent to; below tablet width the table becomes a stack of cards carrying the same information.
Status is the lifecycle pill, and there are only three:
| Pill | Means |
|---|---|
| In progress | Waiting to send, or sending now |
| Completed | The whole campaign finished |
| Needs attention | It failed, was stopped, or gave up after retrying |
Campaign is the template’s name when the message matches a template on that number, with the template’s Meta category beside it. When it does not match, you get the first 44 characters of the message instead. The second line is the number it was sent from.
Outcome is a bar plus counted ticks. Each tick counts only the people whose latest state it is, so the first four numbers add up to the number sent. Hover one for its full label:
| Tick | Hover reads |
|---|---|
| One grey ✓ | Sent, not delivered yet: N |
| Two grey ✓✓ | Delivered, not opened: N |
| Two blue ✓✓ | Opened, no reply: N |
| A reply arrow | Replied: N |
| A crossed-out circle | Unreachable: N |
The crossed-out circle appears only when someone was unreachable, and it is the first thing to drop out when the window narrows.
Before anything has left the queue there are no ticks — the cell reads
240 scheduled with a clock, because four zeros would read like a campaign that
went out and flopped.
Sent to is the recipient count over the word recipients, or, for a
one-person send, that person’s name over their number.
Schedule is the date and time on one line, and <verb> · <kind> on the next:
Sent · One-time, Scheduled · One-time or Next · Recurring.
Open the campaign for the full picture
Click anywhere on the row — or press Enter on it — and the console opens: a panel from the right on a desktop, a sheet from the bottom on a phone. Esc closes it, as does the back gesture on a phone.
A bulk campaign has three sections you can jump between: Statistics, Recipients (N) and Message. A one-person send has no tabs, just the detail.
The hero counts replies; the ladder below it is a funnel, stage by stage.
Read the statistics
At the top, three facts: Sent from, Recipients and Schedule — the
last in the shape Recurring · Next 8 Sept 2026, 09:20.
Then the headline: 18 conversations started over 64 people read it. Replies
lead, because a reply is the thing a campaign is for.
Under that is the tick ladder — a label, a bar, a count and a percentage per
stage. Sent, Delivered, Opened and Replied always appear.
Scheduled, Stopped, Skipped and Unreachable appear only when
something is in them. A sub-line under Replied reads
28% of readers who opened it, and the footnote explains the arithmetic:
Delivered/Open rates vs the prior stage; Reply rate vs delivered — industry convention.
Finally two meters, Open rate and Reply rate, each able to earn a green Strong pill. On a phone their labels shorten to Open and Reply.
Check what you actually sent
The Message section shows the message as a WhatsApp bubble, with the formatting applied.
It shows the body only. A campaign record keeps one flat block of message
text, so there is nothing truthful to show for a template’s header, footer or
buttons — to see those, open the template itself. An empty body renders as
(no message body).
Why the ticks and the ladder disagree
They are counting different things, on purpose.
- The list’s ticks are exclusive buckets: a person who read your message is counted under opened and nowhere else, so the numbers sum to the total sent.
- The drawer’s ladder is a funnel: someone who read your message also passed through delivered, so each rung includes the rungs below it and the percentages compare one stage to the one before.
If you compare the two and the numbers differ, nothing is wrong.
