Choose a field type

A field’s type decides what it holds and how people fill it in — a line of text, a number, a dropdown, a date, or attachments. Raion Hub offers five types, and each one brings its own handful of settings. About 3 minutes per field.

Before you start

  • You can open a field’s editor — see Add, edit and remove a field
  • You have the Table Settings permission
  • Know what you will do with the value. A budget you want to total should be Number, not Text; a stage you want to filter on should be Select, not Text

The five types

TypeWhat it holds
TextA single line of text
NumberA whole number, or one with decimal places
SelectA list of options, shown as a dropdown or as chips
DateA date, a date and time, or a time
FilesAttachments on the contact

Some workspaces also hold older fields that wear a Group pill. Group is not a type you can create and the picker will not offer it, so leave those fields’ types alone.

Steps

Open the field and find Type

Click the field’s row in Database Configuration, or open a table column header’s chevron and choose Edit field…. Type is the first dropdown under the field’s name.

Five entries, always in this order. A locked built-in shows a type pill and Built-in field — type cannot be changed instead of this picker

Pick the type

The settings underneath change to match. Switching type seeds sensible defaults for you: Select starts with an empty option list and multiple selection on, Date starts on Date & time, and Files starts on Any.

Fill in that type’s settings

Text has none — you are done. Otherwise the settings appear directly under Type, and each one is spelled out further down this page:

You pickedWhat appears under TypeRead
TextNothing—
NumberNumber format, then Decimal placesNumber
SelectDisplay, two checkboxes, Pipeline, OptionsSet up a dropdown’s options and colours
DateFormatDate
FilesFiles, then Max filesFiles

Save

Click Save changes. A toast reads Database config saved, and the table and record cards re-draw using the new type.

Number

Number format is a two-way choice: Integer or Decimal.

Pick Decimal and a Decimal places box appears, starting at 2. You can set anything from 1 to 6 — type something outside that and Raion Hub pulls it back into range.

Separator is a switch, on by default, that groups thousands with commas. Turn it off for numbers that are identifiers rather than amounts — a unit number, a year, a policy number — and they show as 1234 instead of 1,234, in the table, on the record card and on phone cards.

Decimal places only appears once you choose Decimal

Select

Select has a whole page of its own, because the options are where most of the work is: Set up a dropdown’s options and colours.

The short version: Display decides whether people see a compact dropdown or a row of chips, and both variants wear the same Select pill in the list.

Date

Format is a three-way choice, each with its own icon: Date, Date & time, or Time. A brand-new Date field starts on Date & time.

Choose Time on its own only when the day genuinely does not matter

Sync to Google Calendar

Under Automations, a date field offers Sync to Google Calendar with the hint Create a calendar event from this date. The switch stays disabled until Google Calendar is authorised for the workspace, and the screen tells you which state you are in:

What you seeWhat it means
A spinner and Checking Google Calendar…Raion Hub is still working out whether you are connected
A warning triangle and Connect Google Calendar to enable sync, with a Connect Google Calendar buttonNot connected. Click the button — it reads Connecting… while it runs
A green shield and Google Calendar connectedReady. The switch is live

Turn the switch on and three settings appear:

  • Calendar — which of your connected calendars the events go to. A calendar Google marks as the primary one is listed as its name followed by (default). Underneath: Where these events go by default. Set up conditional routing under Integrations → Google → Event routing.
  • Event duration — a number followed by min. It starts at 60.
  • Delete event when record is removed — a switch, on to begin with.

Files

Files is a three-way choice of what may be attached: Any, Images or Documents. It starts on Any.

Under it, Max files caps how many attachments one contact may hold in this field. Its placeholder reads No cap — leave the box empty and there is no limit.

Max files counts attachments, not their size

Let the AI fill a field for you

Under Automations, most fields offer an AI Auto-Fill switch, hinted Your AI Agent fills this field from conversations. On a Files field the hint is Your AI Agent attaches documents the contact sends in conversations instead — it collects attachments rather than writing text.

Turn it on and you get:

  1. A text area asking What should the AI extract here? (saved as the field’s description). On a Files field it asks Which documents belong here? e.g. front of the IC (saved as the field’s description). Whatever you write is saved as the field’s description.
  2. A checkbox list under the line Fill this field on these numbers: — because auto-fill runs per connected WhatsApp number, not workspace-wide.

While the numbers load you see a spinner and Loading numbers…. If you have not connected one, the list reads No WhatsApp numbers connected. A number whose auto-fill is switched off altogether carries an amber auto-fill off note beside it. A Configure AI agent link takes you to the AI Chatbot screen.

AI Auto-Fill is not offered on fields the system writes for you.

What happensWhyWhat to do

You cannot find Primary calendar in the Calendar listThat entry only appears when Google reports no primary calendar. Normally your primary one is listed by name with (default) after itPick the one marked (default)
