Group fields into sections
A section is a group of fields on a contact’s record card — the block headed Contact, the block headed Qualification. Sections decide how a record reads when someone opens it, and getting them right is what turns a long list of boxes into something a salesperson can scan. About 10 minutes.
Each database has its own sections. Renaming, reordering or deleting a section changes the database you are configuring and no other. The screen says so beside the Sections heading — this database only — and its info icon reads: Sections group the fields on a record’s detail card. Each database has its own — renaming, reordering, or deleting a section here only changes this database.
So a Qualification section in Leads and one in Customers are two separate sections, and can hold different fields.
Before you start
- You can open Database Configuration
- You have the Table Settings permission. Without it the section pencils, the trash icons and the drag grips are not on screen
What a section bar carries
Each section in the list is a filled bar. Left to right: a pencil (Edit section), a drag grip, the section’s name in capitals, a count of the fields in it, a trash icon (Delete section) on sections that can be removed, and a collapse chevron at the far right.
Clicking anywhere on the bar collapses or expands it — so click the pencil, not the name, when you mean to rename. Collapse all and Expand all sit to the right of the Sections heading.
The words this database only beside the Sections heading are a reminder that every database keeps its own sections
Which sections Leads starts with depends on how the workspace was set up: a general workspace has Pinned, Contact, Qualification, Appointment and Other, while one set up for a particular industry gets sections to match.
A database you create yourself starts plain: only Pinned, holding the name, with every other field listed under No section. Build its sections from there — nothing you do here touches Leads.
Steps
Open a database’s field list
Open Database Configuration and click a database’s chip along the top — Leads for the built-in one. The Sections groups sit below the Pinned in Leads group.
Add a section
Click the dashed Add field or section button at the top of the list, then New section in the popup footer. A form opens in the right pane: type a name into Section name (its placeholder is Section name…) and click Add section.
Names that differ only by capitals or spacing collide — Contact Info and Contact info are the same section to Raion Hub
If the name clashes, the form stays open with A section named “Contact info” already exists. The name in that message is the existing section’s name, not what you typed — which is your clue that the two names are closer than they look.
Move fields into it
Drag a field’s grip and drop it on the section you want. Every section reveals itself as a drop target while you drag, a dashed placeholder shows where the field will land, and Scroll up and Scroll down chips appear at the edges of the list if you need to travel. The row flashes where it lands.
- Drop it on a section’s header bar to put it first in that section.
- Drop it on the section’s body to add it at the end.
Moving a field between sections changes this database only
There is a second way, which is easier on a phone: open the field’s editor and use its Section dropdown. Pinned is offered first, then every section by name, and No section to take it out of every group.
Choosing a section in the editor also adds that field to the database you are in. That is deliberate — it used to look as though nothing had happened.
A section with nothing in it stays visible and shows a dashed drop zone reading Drag a field here to move it into Appointment.
Put the sections in the order you want to read them
Drag a section bar’s grip, or click the grip and nudge it with the ↑ and ↓ keys — its label reads Move Appointment section (↑/↓ to nudge). No section can move above the Pinned group.
Order here is the order the blocks appear on a record card, and it also sets the column order in the table.
Save
Click Save changes. A toast reads Database config saved.
Rename or delete a section
Click the pencil on a section’s bar. Edit section opens in the right pane.
The name here saves as you type — there is no separate save inside this form
- Section name edits live. There is no separate save inside this form. The new name applies to this database only.
- Delete section (red) removes it. A protected section shows the words Default section here instead of a delete button.
- Done closes the form.
Pinned can never be deleted. Beyond that, it depends on the database:
- In Leads, the first section under Pinned is protected too, so a record card always keeps at least one group.
- In any other database, every section except Pinned can be deleted.
- No section is not a real section — it is where unsectioned fields wait — so it has no trash icon.
What happens to the fields in a deleted section
They are kept — no data and no field definitions are lost, and no other database is affected.
The confirmation is titled Delete section “Appointment”? and reads Its fields move to “Other” — they’re kept, just unsectioned. This can’t be undone. Trust the “kept” part; for where they land, check before you save. In a database you created, they move to No section. In Leads, they move into the first section under Pinned.
If something goes wrong
| What happens | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A section you added is missing from another database | Each database has its own sections — this database only | Open that database’s configuration and add the section there too |
| The bar collapsed instead of opening the rename form | Clicking anywhere on the bar collapses or expands it | Click the pencil at the left of the bar |
| A section named “Contact info” already exists. but you typed something different | Names that differ only by capitals, spaces or punctuation are the same section to Raion Hub, and the message names the existing one | Reuse the existing section, or pick a genuinely different name |
| There is no trash icon on a section | It is Pinned, it is No section, or — in Leads only — it is the first section under Pinned | Delete a different section, or empty this one instead |
| The section editor shows Default section where the delete button should be | Same reason — it is a protected section | Nothing to do |
| The pencils, trash icons and grips are all missing | You do not have the Table Settings permission | Ask a Workspace Owner in Settings → Roles |
| A field you re-sectioned appeared in a database that never had it | Choosing a section in a field’s editor also adds the field to the database you are in | Open that field and use Remove from database |
| A new database shows almost everything under No section | New databases start plain, with only Pinned | Add sections and drag fields into them — this does not affect Leads |
| A section will not move above Pinned | Pinned is fixed at the top | Expected — pinned fields are the frozen strip, not a normal group |
