Work in Table view
Table view is the spreadsheet-style list: one row per contact, one column per field. It is what a database opens on, and it is where you edit values fastest — click a cell, type, move on. This page covers reading the table, sorting it, editing in it, and setting the columns up so what you need stays in front of you.
Before you start
- Table is the default mode. If you are looking at a board instead, open the View chip and pick Table, or press ⌘1 / Ctrl+1.
- On a phone held upright this view is a list of cards, not a table — the View menu even names the row Cards there. Sorting, searching and filtering all still apply; row height and rows-per-page have nothing to act on.
Steps
Switch to Table
In the toolbar above the list, click the View chip. Under the heading Mode, pick Table (⌘1 / Ctrl+1). Kanban (⌘2 / Ctrl+2) is the only other mode.
The View chip carries both the mode and the row height
Sort by a column
Click a column header. The menu opens with Sort ascending and Sort descending, and the one in force is highlighted.
Sorting is remembered in this browser until you change it.
Everything you can do to a column lives in its header menu
Edit a value without leaving the table
Click a cell and it becomes an editor where it sits.
- ↵ saves and drops to the cell below — this is how you work down a column
- Tab saves and moves right, ⇧ Tab moves left
- Esc cancels and puts the old value back. Esc never saves
- Long text — remarks, notes — keeps ↵ as a new line and saves on ⌘ ↵ / Ctrl+↵
Click, type, press Enter — the editor drops to the next row
Keep the columns that matter frozen
Column header → Pin column. The column joins the frozen block on the left and stays put while everything else scrolls sideways. Unpin column puts it back.
Pinning does one more thing worth knowing: a pinned column is also promoted onto the contact’s card and drawer. They are one setting with two doors.
You can freeze three columns at once and Name is always one of them, so you have two to spend.
Get a column out of the way
Column header → Hide column. The field is still on every record and still in the contact’s drawer — it only stops taking up a column. You can still filter and search on it.
One consequence to remember: a hidden column is also left out of an export. See Export contacts to a spreadsheet.
Set the row height
View → under Density, pick Compact (⌘7), Cozy (⌘8 — the default) or Comfortable (⌘9). Use Ctrl instead of ⌘ on Windows.
Density is a table-only, desktop-only setting, which is why the section is missing on a phone. These three shortcuts work but are not listed in the in-app shortcuts dialog, so pressing ? will not remind you of them.
Choose how many rows per page
Bottom right of the table, the Rows: caption and the select beside it — 10, 20 (the default), 50 or 100. Your choice is remembered between sessions. On a narrower desktop the word Rows: drops away and the select reads 20 / page on its own.
The left-hand corner of the footer tells you where you are: 21–40 of 128 while you page through, or 3 of 128 selected once you tick something.
The footer: what you are looking at, which page, and how many per page
What you can do from a column header
| Row | What it does | You will not see it without |
|---|---|---|
| Sort ascending / Sort descending | Orders the whole list by this column | — |
| Pin column / Unpin column | Freezes the column on the left, and promotes the field onto the card | the Views permission with update |
| Hide column | Removes the column, keeps the data | the Views permission with update |
| Edit field… | Changes the field itself — its name, its options — for the whole workspace | the Table Settings permission with update |
| Add column… | Adds another field to this database’s table | the Table Settings permission with update |
On the Name column the pin row reads a plain Pinned and cannot be changed: hover it and it explains why — Name is always pinned — the record’s identity column. The hide row does the same, with Name is always shown — the record’s identity column.
Resizing columns
Drag the divider on the right edge of a header. There is also a grip on the right edge of the frozen block that scales every pinned column at once. Widths are remembered in this browser.
The right-hand rail
The last column is your row actions. Its header reads Actions when there is room for the word, and a pointer glyph when there is not. Beside it, a sliders button labelled Configure row actions opens Database Configuration on the actions list — you will not see that button unless your role has the Table Settings permission with update.
Working the list from the keyboard
| Keys | What it does |
|---|---|
| / | Jump to the search field |
| ↑ ↓ | Move between rows — if the contact drawer is open it follows along |
| Space | Select or deselect the row you are on |
| ↵ | Open the contact you are on |
| C | Open that contact’s conversation |
Opening the first contact and then walking down with ↑ ↓ is the fastest way to work a call list: the drawer refills with each person and you never go back to the table between calls. The full list is on Keyboard shortcuts.
What is remembered, and where
| Remembered in this browser only | Saved on the database, for everyone |
|---|---|
| The sort, the row density, rows per page, column widths | Which columns show, and which are pinned |
Signing into a different account in the same browser resets the browser-remembered settings to Raion Hub’s defaults rather than handing them the previous account’s.
When the list is grouped
Set Group by and each bucket becomes a collapsible full-width header row with a chevron, its label and its count. The label stays pinned at the left edge as you scroll sideways.
Grouped mode pages differently: the numbered pager and Rows: disappear, the footer reads 60 loaded, and each group fetches its own next rows as you reach the bottom of it. Grouping is covered in Find the contacts you need.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A strip above the table reading 12 new leads · 3 leads updated with Refresh | Records changed while you were reading, and Raion Hub will not move rows under your cursor | Press Refresh — the rows stay on screen — or dismiss it and carry on slightly behind |
| Viewer access — read-only. above the table | Your role can read records but not change them | Ask a workspace owner for the Lead Table permission with update |
| Can’t pin more — the scrollable area would get too narrow. Unpin a column first. | Three columns are already frozen | Unpin one, then pin the new one |
| A pinned column scrolling anyway, marked not frozen here | The window is too narrow to freeze it here | Widen the window — it re-freezes by itself. Nothing was lost |
| No results found | A search is active and nothing matches | Clear the search box |
| No leads match filters | Filters are active and nothing matches | Press Clear Filters |
| No Density section in the View menu | You are on a phone, or on the board | Density only applies to a real table on a desktop |
| Hovering the View chip shows ⌘1/2/3, but ⌘3 does nothing | There are only two modes; that tooltip is out of date | Use ⌘1 for Table and ⌘2 for Kanban |
| A column you sorted seems to sort only part of the list | A few calculated columns can only be sorted over the rows already loaded | Filter the list down first, or sort by a stored field instead |
