Schedule a campaign for later or on a repeat
The same composer that sends a campaign now can hold it for a date and time, or repeat it daily, weekly or monthly between two dates. This page covers only the Schedule section — the audience, number, template and variables work exactly as they do in Send a WhatsApp campaign.
Before you start — set up the campaign first: open the composer, choose the audience, pick the sending number and the template, and fill in the variables. Nothing on this page can be set until there is a campaign to schedule.
Steps
Choose one-time or repeating
Scroll to Schedule. How often has two options:
- One-time — sends once, now or at a moment you pick
- Recurring — repeats on a pattern between a start and an end date
Under the two controls, a plain-language line spells out what is actually set. It updates as you change the fields, and it is the fastest way to check you set what you meant to.
For a one-time send, pick the moment
With One-time selected, a second control appears: When, with Now and Later.
Choose Later and one field appears — Send at, which takes a date and a
time. The summary line becomes Sends once, at 8 Sept 2026, 3:00 PM. Until you
have picked both, it reads Pick a date and time to send at.
Later reveals exactly one field. The line underneath restates it in words.
When exists only for a one-time campaign. Switch to Recurring and it disappears, because a repeating campaign always has a start date.
For a repeating send, set the pattern
Choose Recurring and the section opens out. Frequency is where you start:
| Frequency | What it needs |
|---|---|
| Daily | Nothing extra. Two more fields are offered for a daily frequency only — Interval (a number) and Unit (Minutes, Hours or Days) |
| Weekly | Weekdays — tap the chips Mon to Sun. At least one is required |
| Monthly | Day of month, a number from 1 to 31 |
Three fields apply to all three frequencies: Start date (today by default), End date (30 days out by default) and Time of day (09:00 by default). Repeat every is the multiplier — leave it at 1 for “every week”, set it to 2 for “every other week”.
The summary names the next run and the end date, so a wrong end date is visible before you commit.
The summary line reads back whichever pattern you built:
Every Monday, Thursday at 9:00 AM · next run 6 Oct 2026 · ends 30 Oct 2026.Every month on day 15 at 9:00 AM · next run 15 Oct 2026 · ends 30 Oct 2026.Daily at 9:00 AM, starting 30 Sept 2026 · ends 30 Oct 2026.
Pick Weekly and no weekday, and it says
Pick at least one weekday for a weekly recurrence. — that one blocks the send
until you fix it.
Narrow the sending window, if you need to
Advanced sending options is a collapsed row at the bottom of the section. It is worth a look even when you do not change it, because collapsed it prints what is currently in effect:
- at the defaults:
Sends any time of day · minimal delay between sends - once changed, for example:
Sends 9:00 AM–6:00 PM · 5 min delay between sends
Open it and there are three fields.
| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Window start | 00:00 | The earliest time of day a message may go out |
| Window end | 23:59 | The latest time of day a message may go out |
| Delay between sends (min) | 0 | Minutes to wait between one recipient and the next |
Collapsed, this row already states the window and the delay — open it only to change them.
A window is useful when a recurring campaign might otherwise fire overnight; a delay is useful when you would rather a few hundred messages trickle out than land at once.
Schedule it
The primary button reads Schedule rather than Send for anything that is
not one-time and immediate. Press it, and the toast confirms
Campaign scheduled.
The composer closes and the campaign appears in the list with Scheduled or Next on its Schedule column and an In progress status pill.
What the schedule column tells you afterwards
Back on the list, each campaign’s Schedule column carries a date and time on
the first line and a two-part summary on the second: Sent · One-time,
Scheduled · One-time, or Next · Recurring.
A recurring campaign always shows its next run. A one-time campaign shows the time it is due while it is still waiting, and afterwards shows when it was created.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Pick at least one weekday for a weekly recurrence. | Weekly is selected and no weekday chip is on | Tap at least one of Mon to Sun |
| When is nowhere to be found | You are on Recurring, which has no Now/Later choice | Switch How often to One-time |
| Weekdays is nowhere to be found | Frequency is Daily or Monthly | Set Frequency to Weekly |
| The button says Send, not Schedule | The campaign is one-time and set to Now | Set When to Later, or switch to Recurring |
| A scheduled campaign has not gone out at its time | A send that failed on a recoverable error goes back to waiting and tries again | Open the campaign and look for a Retrying recipient — see Find out why someone did not get your campaign |
